Contract – 2

It says in the Old Testament that “Abraham believed God and he was credited with righteous.”

What does it mean that “he was credited with righteousness”?

When the time was right, the time established by God, Jesus appeared as a man in the earth. He appeared in the form of a man. He did so so that he could minister the kingdom of God and that through his death, resurrection and ascension, establish the New Covenant.

It was an accounting move. Those who were credited with righteousness had there standing with God moved from the credit column to the receiving column. They became the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.

That’s why Jesus said to the thief on the cross “this day you shall be with me in Paradise.”

Immediately after his crucifixion Jesus descended into sheol. He took the thief with him. At that time sheol was split into two compartments. One was for the righteous and the other was hell. Jesus left him in Paradise.

When Jesus ascended to heaven and sprinkled his blood upon the Heavenly altar, the way was made clear for all those we’re waiting to enter into heaven.
