Promises and Rewards

One of the greatest  descriptions of the New Testament that I heard was when it was called a covenant of promises and rewards

That’s what it truly is: a covenant of promises and rewards. The greatest of these is salvation, the promise of eternal life when one believes in and confesses Jesus Christ as Lord.  Health and prosperity are also promises of the New Covenant.

Jesus Christ came to earth that we might be blessed.  He came to bless us. He became a curse, so that we might  receive the blessing of God.  Jesus suffered and died on the Cross.  He became sin, so we could become the righteousness of God.

But Jesus did not stay dead.  On the third day, He rose from the grave.  He overcame death.  He rose in the power life of the Holy Spirit.  God the Father raised Jesus from the dead and seated Him and His right hand to the glory that He had before the foundation of the world.  Jesus was restored to the glory he had before the world was made.

Having died on the cross and being raised from the grave overcoming death, Jesus became the Way that we might be saved.  He is the door to eternal life.  When we receive him and confess Him as Lord and Savior, we are saved.

Jesus came to save us, to seek and to save that which was lost.
