Begin with the end

In business there is a concept: begin with the end in mind.  Using this concept it’s helpful to take a look at the Bible and Jesus.

New Heavens and Earth
There will be a new heavens and a new earth and Jesus will be the Lord of lords and King of Kings, and he will rule for eternity. The kingdom of God will be a kingdom of love, where God is the Father, and those who have accepted Jesus will be his children. The children of God will be one with God, and He will be in them and they in him. They will be a family. God’s home will be with men and their home with God.

The End of the Age
At the end of the age, everything will end with Jesus. The Bible says that he is the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. All creation began with Jesus, and this age will end with him. At the final battle in the book of Revelation Jesus will crush the forces of darkness under his feet in cast them into outer darkness. The saints will be victorious.

1000 years
Jesus will rule and reign for 1000 years on earth. This is called the millennial reign of Christ. Jesus will set up his kingdom in Jerusalem after He returns to the earth descending upon the Mount of Olives. When He sets foot on the Mount of Olives it will split in two. This time shall be a time of peace that the world has not seen since the beginning. Those that have come out of the Great Tribulation and have washed their robes white with the of the blood of the Lamb will rule and reign with Him. The saints shall be be resurrected in their their glorified bodies. People will still be born. One hundred years will be considered a short time for a person to live. Everyone will have their own piece of land and will visit the King of Kings and Lord of lords once a year.

The Great Tribulation
The Great Tribulation will proceed the 1000 years. The Saints will go home to be with the Lord and the great wedding feast of the Lamb. Many will be saved and come out of the Great Tribulation. The tribulation period lasts for less than seven years. It will not last a long time. In the scope of things it will be over quickly.

Church Age
The church age is the age which we are in now. This is the age of faith. Faith believes in the eternal things not seen. This is the time when the kingdom of God is advancing in the lives of people by the gospel of Jesus Christ. The church was established with the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and the coming of the Holy Spirit. Three thousand people were saved on the day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit arrived and Peter stood up and preached the Good News for the first time.

Jesus was seen raised from the dead by the disciples and over 500 people. During this time he did many miracles and gave many proofs of who he was.

Jesus Ministry
During Jesus ministry, he taught about the kingdom of God and why He came. He had over 500 followers. He taught in cities, in synagogues, in towns and in the countryside. He even taught on a boat. He had 70 disciples he gave a healing ministry to. He chose twelve disciples to follow him, and of the twelve, three where closest to Him and one betrayed Him. He did many miracles. Among them He healed the sick, raised the dead, fed the multitude, calmed the storm, healed those with skin disease, and walked on water. He was born in Bethlehem, live the Nazareth and was exiled to Egypt for a period of time. He was born of a virgin. His mother was Mary and his adopted father was Joseph.

400 Years
Before Jesus arrived it was a period of about 400 years when the prophets were silent.

The Law
The Hebrew prophets predicted the coming of Jesus as the Messiah. During the time of the Law, the priests, kings and prophets were anointed to speak and to the people. The Law was a shadow, and it foretold the coming of the Messiah. The Law was given through Moses. The Kings were the leaders of Israel. The prophets were the friends God.

Children of Israel
The children of Israel spent many years in slavery in Egypt. They had left the land of Canaan for Egypt because of a famine and lived in the land of Goshen. There there they prospered. They had great favor with the king of Egypt when they first moved there, but the later Pharaoh did not remember the kindness showed to them by the first king and enslaved them. God raised up a man in Pharaoh’s court called Moses and to deliver them. Through Moses, God showed many miracles and delivered the children of Israel. They had grown in number by then and had become a nation of people. They left Egypt. Pharaoh’s army tried to pursue them but was drowned in the sea. They enter the land of Canaan and settled there.

The Israelites were the descendants of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. Abraham believed God and it was credited to him is righteousness. He was a man of faith. He had faith because he believed God’s Word — what God said. God promised Abraham a child and he said that his descendants would be many. Abraham had followed God’s direction from the land of Ur to the land of Canaan.

The first man was Adam. God formed Adam out of the clay of the earth and breathed the breath of life in him. Adam fellowship with God in the garden of paradise. Adam sinned and fell from grace. He was expelled from garden. Even out of the tragedy of the fall of man God promised the Messiah who would be known as Jesus

God created the heavens and the earth, and He created man and all living things on earth in 6 days. All things were created through Jesus, for Jesus and by Jesus.
